Good automation does more than produce an answer. It communicates the conditions under which that answer was produced.
In research systems, I treat missing data, stale evidence, and conflicting sources as first-class states. The system should be able to stop, downgrade confidence, or request human review without disguising uncertainty as precision.
That small design choice has a large effect: it makes the workflow easier to trust, debug, and improve.
